A dental implant is made by surgically inserting a small titanium screw beneath the gum into the jawbone. This is allowed to heal for a few months, so that the screw integrates with the surrounding bone.
Once fused, a peg is placed between the screw and the gums and a porcelain crown is placed on top, providing the function and appearance of a brand new tooth. The crown is custom tinted to match the surrounding teeth.
