Periodontal Maintenance (cleaning)
Regular periodontal maintenance appointments are important to help halt the progression of periodontal disease, and to help maintain the gums and bones that support the teeth.
While there are many different periodontal diseases that can affect these tooth-supporting tissues/structures, by far the most common ones are plaque-induced inflammatory conditions, such as gingivitis and periodontics.
Some patients are more susceptible to periodontal disease and it is recommended that these patients have more frequent scaling of the teeth in an effort to decrease the inflammation that can cause periodontal problems.
Your dentist will prescribe a treatment plan that is individualized to ideally meet your needs.
